Electro Acoustic Violins
Violorama’s violins, violas and cellos all come with the option of a custom fitted soundpost pickup. This type of pickup produces a more natural, warm tone than a bridge-mounted pickup, as it picks up the sound of the instrument’s body as well as just the vibrations of the bridge.
Many purpose-built electro acoustic violins are built with more emphasis on the “electric” element, using a solidly built violin body which is not really suitable for acoustic playing. The Violorama electro acoustic system aims to produce instruments which achieve equally good results both amplified and unamplified.
If you buy an instrument because you like its specific tonal characteristics, ideally your amplified performance should be able to reproduce some of these these acoustic characteristics. Many people have assumed that this is impossible without resorting to a microphone (prone to feeding back in loud electric performances), but a soundpost pickup brings the amplified violin sound a lot closer to that of an acoustic violin.
